Daily Bible Reading: Luke 20:1-26

I often wonder how the crowd reacted to Jesus talking like this to the religious leaders. The people obviously respected the religious leaders and many followed Jesus and hung on to every word. So when He said v.8 I’ll tell you if you tell me. Did people act surprised or murmur in agreement?

He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

I love it! It basically sums up everything we need to do as humans. Give ourselves to God. We are just God’s creation, the pot, the product. Yet he has given us so much. He’s not using is as just a tool or experiment. He has given a choice and reason. I’m sure most people, if not everything, has said at one point, like myself: it’s my life, I’ll do what I want. Isn’t that the anthem if the world right now: you do you, be the best you, etc. Nope, we’re nothing without God. God, I’ll be whatever you want me to be, for I am yours.
