We all hit those seasons where “tired” doesn’t even begin to cover it. It’s a deep, soul-level exhaustion that comes from navigating hard times, prolonged seasons of waiting, or personal trials that seem to have no end in sight.

I just finished a 6-day devotional plan on the Bible App called “Weary: Holding on to God’s Word in Hard Times,” and it was the gentle, strengthening reminder I needed that we aren’t meant to carry the weight of the world on our own.

Validating the Weariness

The beauty of this plan is that it doesn’t ask you to “fake it until you make it.” It acknowledges that life is often incredibly difficult and that feeling weary is a natural human response to a broken world. Instead of offering platitudes, the study looks at how Scripture meets us exactly where we are—in the middle of the struggle, not just once we’ve reached the finish line.

Scripture as an Anchor

Throughout the six days, the devotional focuses on specific promises from God’s Word that act as anchors for the soul. When our emotions are high and our energy is low, we need something unshakeable to hold onto.

The plan explores:

  • The Invitation of Jesus: Truly understanding what it means to take His “easy yoke.”
  • The Power of Lament: Learning that God can handle our honest questions and our tears.
  • Renewed Strength: How waiting on the Lord isn’t passive—it’s an active leaning into His sufficiency.

A Shift in Perspective

By the end of the study, the circumstances of the “hard times” may not have changed, but my heart’s posture has. I was reminded that God isn’t disappointed in our weariness; He uses it to draw us closer to His heart. He doesn’t just give us strength; He is our strength.

If you are walking through a valley right now, or if you simply feel like you’re running on empty, please give yourself the gift of these six days. It is a quiet space to breathe, pray, and remember that you are held.
